Yaitu, tentang &#8220;The Thinking Mechanism&#8221;. Dijelaskan bahwa, mekanisme berpikir dari otak manusia dapat dilihat sebagai mekanisme dua sisi: satu sisi bagi mekanisme berpikir kreatif tanpa hambatan dan sisi yang lain bagi mekanisme berpikir analitis atau evaluatif. Yang pertama menggunakan otak kiri dan yang kedua otak kanan.</p>
<p>Proses berpikir yang menghasilkan ide-ide kreatif telah lama dikenal sebagai proses &#8220;lampu hijau&#8221; (green light). Dalam proses ini, kuantitas lebih penting daripada kualitas. Sisi lainnya, yaitu sisi evaluatif, menganalisa dan menilai ide-ide yang dihasilkan dari sisi kreatif. Proses ini berfokus pada kualitas ide, dan dikenal sebagai proses &#8220;lampu merah&#8221; (red light).</p>
<p>Dalam sesi pelatihan tersebut, konsep di atas merupakan bagian dari topik yang lebih besar, yaitu proses inovasi. Dalam tulisan ini, saya ingin mengkaitkannya dengan aktivitas menulis.</p>
<p>Lalu, apa hubungan antara konsep green-light dan red-light thinking tersebut dengan aktivitas menulis?</p>
<p><span id="more-24"></span>Ketika Anda mau menulis apapun, jangan &#8220;aktifkan&#8221; sikap perfeksionis Anda. Mulailah menulis sesuai dengan apa yang ada di pikiran Anda. Biarkan ide-ide Anda mengalir dulu dalam tulisan, tanpa memperdulikan tata bahasa, urutan dan susunan kalimat. Atau, mulailah dengan menulis beberapa kata singkat berurutan dari atas ke bawah yang merupakan kerangka atau poin-poin tulisan Anda, sebanyak mungkin, dengan cepat, walaupun nanti mungkin hanya sebagian yang dipakai. Itulah green-light thinking. Mekanisme berpikir yang mementingkan &#8220;idea fluency&#8221; dan kuantitas.</p>
<p>Terus terang, walaupun sudah mendapat pelatihan dengan topik di atas, saya, yang sudah lama menderita penyakit &#8220;perfeksionis&#8221; stadium menengah, seringkali lupa mengaktifkan green-light thinking ketika memulai menulis. Baru selesai menulis satu atau dua kalimat, judgement sudah mulai bekerja. Wah, kelihatannya kalimat pembuka ini kurang pas. Aduh, rasanya pilihan katanya kurang tepat untuk audiens saya. Hmmm, grammar-nya keliru. Saya ambil perikasa grammar dulu ah, untuk penyempurnaan. Akhirnya, tulisan saya tidak pernah selesai. Sehingga, ketika mau menulis topik lain di kemudian hari, muncul perasaan enggan.</p>
<p>Itulah mengapa saya membuat tulisan ini. Selain untuk membantu diri saya sendiri supaya tidak membuat kesalahan yang sama, mungkin juga bisa membantu Anda yang pernah mengalami hal yang serupa.</p>
<p>Nah, setelah draf Anda selesai, di mana Anda telah puas &#8220;menumpahkan&#8221; semua ide ke dalam tulisan Anda, barulah red-light thinking diaktifkan. Tata bahasa, pilihan kata, urutan kalimat, urutan dan susunan paragraf diperiksa dan dikoreksi. Kalau tidak, audiens Anda tidak akan memahami tulisan Anda. Menurut saya, Dan, ini merupakan hal yang normal. Hanya orang yang dikarunia bakat yang luar biasa yang bisa menulis langsung jadi sempurna tanpa dikoreksi lagi.</p>
<p>Dalam bukunya, <a href="http://www.markforster.net/do-it-tomorrow/">&#8220;Do It Tomorrow&#8221;</a>, Mark Forster menyarankan untuk menulis serangkaian draf dengan cepat:</p>
<blockquote><p>Ketika saya pertama kalinya belajar teknik menulis serangkaian draf dengan cepat, draf pertama saya biasanya terdiri dari beberapa kata. Draf kedua bertambah sedikit dan saya akan merevisinya sampai menjadi bentuk yang saya inginkan.</p>
<p>Ada dua keuntungan melakukan cara ini. Pertama, cara ini menyingkirkan perasaan perfeksionis yang menuntut bagian awal sudah harus sempurna. Jika saya melihat ada sebuah kalimat yang agak janggal, saya tidak mempermasalahkannya. Toh ini masih draf. Kedua, cara ini akan membuat pemikiran-pemikiran dan ide-ide baru akan muncul.</p></blockquote>
<p>Saya 100% setuju dengan apa yang dikatakan oleh Mark Foster karena saya telah membuktikannya sendiri. (Untuk tulisan ini, terus terang, ide tentang green-light dan red-light thinking di atas tiba-tiba muncul dari memori saya ketika saya sedang asyik membuat draft dengan cepat menggunkan kalimat-kalimat yang agak ngawur tata bahasanya.)</p>
